Moorcroft Pottery vase by Walter Moorcroft - Orchid and Spring Flowers design. This is a stunning vase standing 15 inches tall with a girth of nearly 31 inches! The base is impressed with the Made in England mark and is also impressed 'Potter to HM the Queen'. Signed by Walter with blue WM initials. These were used between 1928-1949. The earliest Royal Warrant paper label read 'Potter to HM the Queen' but this was updated in 1936 to read 'Potter to HM Queen Mary' following the death of King George V. The paper label is not present on this vase but the impressed mark denotes a possibly earlier piece.
The vase is highly decorated with brightly coloured flowers on a high shine cobalt blue background. It is well painted. There is crazing which really only shows on the paler colours but it is not heavy crazing. It is guaranteed free from any form of restoration or damage. Light surface marks only (only visible on close inspection), no heavy scratching. Heavy crazing is only visible on the base - see photo. This piece has been in a private collection for the last 25 years. More photos are available on request.
The vase weighs a whopping 5kg! Collection is possible and preferred.
